Walk to the Top!
“Human beings have an innate inner drive to be autonomous, self-determined, and connected to one another. And when that drive is liberated, people achieve more and live richer lives.” – Daniel H. Pink.
Team building is an ideal way to bring your staff together, to genuinely grow as a team and build stronger relationships. A closer-knit a team, the better the output and performance - keeping this concept in mind, MOL Pakistan arranged for a team building hiking activity behind the hills of the CPF-GPF on the 17th of March 2019, and staff from all departments were invited to participate.
Since it is difficult for the staff based at the field to incorporate outdoor activities into their schedules due to their hectic shift hours, this hiking exercise aimed to bring everyone together, generate an energized team spirit and encourage health and fitness into ones routine.
Close to 30 employees volunteered to participate in the hiking activity where a bus was arranged to drive them to the bottom of the hillside where the moderately strenuous hiking trail started. Everyone was instructed to equip themselves adequately for the trip to avoid any mishaps. Enthusiastic to walk to the top, the hikers followed a rambling trail through the rock-strewn mountain and arrived at the top of the hillside feeling accomplished. Refreshments were served while everyone indulged in taking photographs of the serene greenery and the astonishing view of the installation from the hill top. Colleagues were, indeed, seen to be more talkative and energized thank usual. This team building activity proved to be an effective method of taking the staff out of their comfort zone, rely on each other to solve obstacles and challenges outside the workplace, together as a stronger team.
