MOL Pakistan Holds Community Sports Gala for Girls in District Kohat
Kohat, Pakistan – Thursday, February 09, 2023: MOL Pakistan Oil and Gas Company B.V. in partnership with the Joint Venture Consortium of Tal Block and in collaboration with the District Administration of Kohat held a community sports gala for girls in District Kohat.
Attending the day-long event held at the Kohat District Sports Complex were over 200 girl students from schools and colleges across the district. The girls participated in various team games and sports such as badminton, volleyball, table tennis, etc., with great zeal and enthusiasm.
Prizes and trophies were distributed amongst participants by the Chief Guest, Ms. Reena Shaheed Soherwordi, Additional Deputy Commissioner (F&P) District Kohat, attending on behalf of Mr. Furqan Ashraf, Deputy Commissioner (DC), District Kohat. Also in attendance was Ms. Khola Tariq, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Lachi, District Kohat and Mr. Sajid Khan Afridi, District Sport Officer (DSO), District Kohat. All members of district and school administrations were very pleased to see the participation of so many girls and encouraged the youth to reach their full potential in their studies and extracurricular activities including sports.
In her closing remarks, the Chief Guest said, “I am extremely thankful to MOL Pakistan for its support of youth residing in the company’s areas of operation.” She also said that the district administration was committed to supporting and encouraging youth, girls in particular, to play team and individual sports.
In his message, Mr. Ali Murtaza Abbas, MOL Group Regional Vice President for Middle East, Africa, and Pakistan said, “MOL Pakistan operates in some of the most rural and remotest parts of the country, where we appreciate sports and games as a means of cultural conservation and to promote the spirit of sports, inclusivity, and a healthy lifestyle in our local communities. However, due to very limited sport facilities and equipment, recreational activities and sports are not always available and accessible. Therefore, at the request of our local communities, especially our youth, MOL Pakistan regularly sponsors and organizes community sports galas through our corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.”
The girls also took the opportunity to thanked MOL Pakistan, a fully owned subsidiary of MOL Group, operating in Pakistan since 1999. They were particularly thankful to the company for its support of women and girls, and promoting their inclusion and empowerment in the area.
